Introduction:
I’m Chloe Price, professional artist and illustrator from and based in Wales.
The artwork I create is focused character design, concept art, illustrations and graphic novel. I adore my work it’s been my passion for well over a decade now and my creative flow continues to grow. I have a passion for creating and writing characters, I find the best way to design a character is based on not only the world they are based but also their backstory and their personality. Another aspect I enjoy is pairing their personality with a theme that helps create a colour scheme, for an example a bubbly character could be paired with a flower that has meaning of happiness or joy or has a colour that matches those emotions for example sunflowers or daffodils. The character’s name is also a way I decide on their design and colour scheme as most names have meaning and matches the characters personality. When it comes to choosing a name I either pick it at the beginning of the process or at the end after the design has been completed, this can vary from character to character. When choosing a name I not only consider its meaning but also its origin, for example I use a lot of Welsh names for my characters. So if I was to name this happy character with that in mind, I would choose names such as, Gwyneth or Caio both names that mean happiness or joy. For example if I was creating a happy or joyous character there’s a range of colours I could use to represent that such as, yellows, pinks, oranges and bright blues. I find these components are the key creating any character or creature with an equally interesting design as both elevate the other.
